The Government of India’s Smart Cities Mission is intended to transform the lives and living conditions of the citizens of the country. Recognizing Smart Cities as an important platform that drives progressive change, the 3rd Smart Cities India Expo is building on the success of its previous editions by providing a common platform for discussions on important issues and upcoming technologies to stakeholders who are developing smart cities.
Several Taiwanese-based companies are already collaborating with governments across the world to provide smart solutions in various areas ranging from increasing carbon usage efficiency to renewable energy and hardware solutions. Taiwanese-based organizations like Billion Electric Co. Ltd, Taiwan Telematics Industry Association, and the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, along with many others, are involved in stellar smart projects in different countries. Taiwanese ICT brands also have a longstanding goodwill when it comes to the idea of ‘smart living’, which is the cornerstone of a mission like smart cities. ICT solutions enhance people’s lives by helping improve public services and the quality of life of their communities.
Taiwan Excellence believes that initiatives like Smart Cities have given impetus to joint ventures with India since Taiwan's New Southbound Policy, introduced by President Tsai Ing-wen, seeks to promote the country's ties with the 10 ASEAN nations, which includes India.
VIP delegates and officials from the Taiwan, including Vice Minister Wang, Ambassador Chung Kwang Tien and Mr. Lin-Wu Kuo, Vice Chairman of TAITRA, were part of the expo. Said Michael Lin, Director of the Taipei World Trade Centre Liaison Office in Mumbai, “The ‘smart’ component of a smart city rests largely on critical ICT solutions that have the power to give a boost to smart living. Taiwan has been boasting an array of great smart ICT solutions around the world for many years. We are looking forward to providing our expertise for India’s Smart Cities mission because we believe that India has a huge regard for innovation and cutting-edge technology products. We are eager to join hands with India and share our experience in technology and smart living tools which can benefit government agencies, the environment and residents.”
India’s urban population is estimated to grow three times by year 2031. The creation of 100 smart cities, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, assumes significance in this context as it provides an impetus for improved infrastructure and essential services to citizens and enterprises.
