Dusseldorf, Germany, 13 November 2023 – Taiwan has successfully kicked off an engaging exhibition of healthcare innovation at MEDICA 2023, the world’s leading medical trade fair. The opening media launch event held at the Taiwan Pavilion showcased a comprehensive display of Taiwanese medical technology innovation, featuring live demonstrations from four Taiwan Excellence award-winning companies.

In his welcome speech, Mr. Franz Huang, General Director of the Economic Division, Taipei Representative Office in Germany, highlighted Taiwan's global trade contributions. “Taiwan's significant role as a reliable exporter in various industries, including medical devices, is underscored by our record-high bilateral trade with Germany,” Huang emphasized. “With our export value in medical devices reaching 7.51 billion USD in 2022, and with Germany as a top market, we are well-positioned to meet the growing global healthcare demands.” This significant trade figure not only underscores Taiwan's economic strength but also fortifies the enduring partnership between Taiwan and Germany.

Following Huang, Ms. Pei-Yue Lin, Deputy Director of TAITRA, the hosting organization, took to the stage. “This year marks our ninth occasion hosting a press event at MEDICA,” Lin said. “Over these years, Taiwan Excellence has evolved into a globally recognized symbol of outstanding Taiwanese products. These products are noted for their innovation in R&D, design, quality, and marketing. Our active participation this year, showcasing leading innovations in digital healthcare and biotechnology, is a testament to our dedication in transforming global healthcare challenges through advanced medical and information technology.”

The event's featured highlights included Medimaging Integrated Solution's (MiiS) introduction of the Horus Scope, an AI-integrated retinal imaging device, and BioGend Therapeutics' unveiling of the RevoCart One Step-Cartilage Repair System, which aims to transform the approach to joint and bone repair. In addition, Wincomm drew interest with its Telemedic Workstation, designed to enhance ECG processes, while V5 Technologies showcased the LDCT AI for Lung Cancer Screening System, expected to be an essential tool in the early detection of lung cancer.

While these demonstrations provided a glimpse into the future of healthcare, the invitation extends to all MEDICA attendees to visit the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion at Hall 17, C6, for ongoing presentations until November 16. 19 leading Taiwanese companies are showcasing further smart medical solutions in the categories of Smart Medical, Medical Imaging/Testing, and AI-Assisted Medical Devices.

Complementing the high-tech offerings, the Taiwan Pavilion adjacent to the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion features a "Enjoy Your Taiwan Way" cultural celebration from 3:00 to 4:30 PM on November 14 and 15. Visitors can delight in Taiwanese traditions, savor culinary specialties, sip aromatic teas, enjoy dynamic performances, and participate in prize giveaways, enriching their MEDICA 2023 experience.
