Mr. Yung-Ching Wang, founder of Formosa Plastics Group, faced a power outage during a factory inspection in Yunlin. The sudden blackout halted production, risking damage to materials and products. Taiwan Power Company explained it was due to a generator failure and rolling blackouts. Though losses were minimal, Mr. Wang saw the urgent need for power reliability and began exploring energy storage solutions. His daughter, Ms. Margaret Wang, responded by founding a company focused on developing energy storage technology. She assembled top scientists and engineers, leading years of research that resulted in safe, efficient lithium iron phosphate (LFP) soft-pack batteries. Ms. Wang promotes domestic energy storage integrated with renewables like solar and wind, aiming to boost Taiwan’s energy independence and resilience.
