This is the first time that a Taiwanese cyclist won the Best Asian Title, along with the symbol of Taiwan Excellence being broadcasted in 61 counties in the Tour de Taiwan 2017.
The Tour de Taiwan 2017, approved by the UCI (International Cycling Union) as a class 2.1 event on the UCI Asia Tour calendar 2017, took place from March 26–30. The whole race was streamed on YouTube. In addition to being online, the Eurosport TV Channel broadcasted the highlights of the Tour de Taiwan 2017 in 20 languages to 61 countries. The world was able to see the race and the symbol of Taiwan Excellence.
The Tour de Taiwan 2017 is a 5-stage competition that runs over 5 days from March 26 to March 30. The complete tour covers 682.11 kilometers. 21 very competitive teams came to the Tour de Taiwan, including three UCI Professional Continental Teams, three national teams and fifteen UCI Continental Teams.
The Taiwanese rider Chien Liang CHEN claimed the first intermediate sprint and overturned the leader to claim the Blue Jersey. It was the first time that a Taiwanese cyclist won the Best Asian Title after the Tour de Taiwan was upgraded to a class UCI 2.1 event.

The Taiwan Excellence Facebook fan page held a series of bicycling activities, such as introducing the Taiwan Excellence Gold and Silver awarded bicycles, the launch of an animation film on the bicycle industry, directing promotional events on PChome to foster sales, and last but not least, Taiwan Excellence invited fans to write down their own touching life stories with their bicycles. The social media activities successfully reached more than 400,000 fans. Many fans’ stories are touching and meaningful, such as how they overcame the obstacles and pains by the encouragement of their parents during their first time of trying to ride bikes, or about how long it took to save money to buy their first bike. Taiwan Bicycles are not only a well designed product with high quality, but also a lifelong partner.
