Karma Medical is proud to announce that EvO Altus, the newly designed power standing wheelchair has been awarded one of the Red Dot winners of 2018 Red Dot Award - Product Design 2018.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design has roots dating back as far as 1955 and determines the best products created each year. In 2018, designers and manufacturers from 59 countries submitted more than 6,300 objects to the competition. True to the motto “In search of good design and innovation”, a jury comprising roughly 40 members assessed the products individually based on the original. The strict judging criteria, which include level of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics and durability, provide a frame of reference which the jurors then complement with their own expertise.

It’s another great encouragement after winning 2015 iF Design Award with EvO Lectus that continues driving Karma to keep the goal of helping as more users with different symptoms as possible to be motility-independent again with Karma products.

As the ageing population has been zooming worldwide, focuses from both market and society are manorly laid on the elderly. But there is a small group of people who suffer from serious illnesses or injuries carried with more specific demands that hidden from the spotlight. They have little control on muscle movements such as Dr. Stephen Hawking, the renowned physicist also a ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) patient that needed to be cared as much as the others and that’s our motive to create EvO Altus.

The R&D teams from Karma Taiwan & Karma Europe had been worked for three years to develop a further functional power wheelchair to complete the advanced range. With the powerful EvO chassis suited with R-Net controls that transform joysticks into infrared and Bluetooth controls to operate electrical devices. Furthermore, EvO Altus provides a wide range of position conversions including sitting/lying and standing modes which allows users to have a tailored and customized experience than ever with EvO Altus.

Karma is looking forward to present EvO Altus to users with such demands and the market to show our ambition to fulfill every need seemed impossible with a possible solution.
