The growing restrictions on international travel due to the novel coronavirus outbreak and general public unease have resulted in a significant number of cancelled flights and hotel bookings.

With this in mind, TAITRA announced today that the TAIPEI CYCLE and TaiSPO trade show, originally scheduled for Mar 4-7, will be postponed until May 14-16, and will be held as a 3-day special edition at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 2. The show will feature a Complete Ecosystem of the Healthy Lifestyle and Sports Industry, and will include many special features, such as enhanced online and offline sourcing services, and outdoor demo riding for bicycles.

International visitors can be reassured that TAITRA conducts all events in full and stringent compliance with health and safety regulations, and will continue to update and implement any necessary contingency plans to ensure the health and safety of visitors and exhibitors to all events.

As of today, Tuesday Feb 11, the novel coronavirus outbreak has resulted in a total of 43,108 confirmed cases across 28 countries globally. The latest reports state that the number of total confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection in China, including Hong Kong (42) and Macau (10), is 42,748, followed by a cruise ship currently in international conveyance (135), Singapore (45), Thailand (33), Republic of Korea (28), Japan (28), Malaysia (18), Taiwan (18), Australia (15), Germany (14), Vietnam (15), United States of American (13), and France (11), UAE (8), UK (8), and Canada (7).

As of writing, a total of 18 confirmed cases have been reported in Taiwan, and there has been no new case since Feb 9. One of these cases has already been released from hospital having fully recovered and the rest are recovering well and are in a stable condition.

As part of efforts to control the spread of novel coronavirus, travel has been prohibited for visitors from China to Taiwan since Jan 23. As of Feb 10, this prohibition has been expanded to also include visitors from Hong Kong and Macau.

Moreover, all other travelers to Taiwan who transit through China, Hong Kong or Macau are required to be under home quarantine for 14 days on arrival in Taiwan. This initiative also took affect from Feb 10.
